Gotta Start Somewhere

Hey Guys!

Today is my birthday and it was also a day of reflection. Thinking back to how I started, all that I've accomplished thus far and my goals for the future. I came across some of my work from the past today and I realized how hard I was on myself to create perfection and in reality there's no such thing. For everything that I have ever created I can think of something I could've done differently because with growth there comes a change of perception, a change in aesthetic and a change in design style. The fashion industry is also forever changing.

Below is a glimpse of some of my older work...

National Sewing Sessions

My sewing sessions are National now!Yaaaaaaay!

I'm extremely excited to teach people all over the country the art of garment construction. I always wanted to teach, but I never thought that I would enjoy it this much. I had my first virtual sewing session with a boutique owner in Texas lastnight and it was seriously like an interactive YouTube video...so cool! I have a lot of projects I'm working on now, but once things slow up I'm definitely doing a sewing tour. I can't wait! I'll keep everyone updated once all the dates are set.

Want private sewing lessons, but you're not in the Philadelphia area? No problem! I now offer virtual sewing sessions via Skype!!! Check out my website for more details www.chachankole.com/sew ...I look forward to working with you!

New Year Shoot

To bring in the New Year I did a photo shoot on the 1st with model Jade and MUA Pat Fox of Pink Sistah. It was my first photo shoot in my new showroom...YAY!!! Okay, I’m not actually a photographer, but I don’t do bad for myself. The only thing is, this was my first indoor shoot. I love shooting outdoors. It’s something about the natural light and being surrounded by nature that really pulls everything together. When I’m working outside I feel like I can see the finished product while shooting and honestly I believe that you have to be able to see the outcome of anything creative before it’s actually complete for it to work.

Indoor shoots are ok for now due to this crazy Philly weather…that blizzard caught me by surprise.

Here are a few flicks from the shoot.

Designer/Stylist: ChaCha N'Kole

Consistency

I was scrolling on Instagram the other day and came across a challenge headed by writer Paury Flowers a.k.a Golden Lady P. The challenge focuses on consistently blogging for 30 days straight. I hesitated for a second before boldly commenting under her picture “I’m in”. I knew that if I commented under the picture that I couldn’t back out of it later on down the line. I’m a woman of my word…what can I say. No, but really. I made a promise to myself that I would do 100% of the things I say I’m going to do. I was listening to an Eric Thomas interview which inspired me to adopt this new practice. That’s why I’m very careful about the things I commit to nowadays.

Now let’s talk about the two main reasons why I don’t blog often and some possible solutions to help me become more consistent:

Reason #1
I have too much going on. I have a clothing line, teach sewing classes, make custom clothes and do graphic design.

Solution #1
Write about it…obvious right?

Reason#2
I’m exhausted most of the time.

Solution #2
Write multiple blogs when I have some down time so that I am not in a rush when writing and on the days I don’t feel like writing I can always use a blog from my stash.

Let's start a conversation! How do you keep motivated when blogging? Where do you find inspiration for topics?  HOW DO YOU STAY CONSISTENT?
